Romania Sponsorship

Romania belongs to the central countries in Eastern Europe. It is home to one of the largest concentrations of Roma (this is the official term used to describe the largest Gypsy minority in Romania). The Roma are the poorest of the poor, uneducated and without any opportunities to develop themselves. Because they’ve been rejected by the rest of the community, they back down into their own ghetto communities, where they find each others support. Almost all of them live in complete poverty.

If you haven’t seen it with your own eyes, it’s hard to imagine the inhumane circumstances in which the Roma children in Romania are forced to grow up: dirty and overcrowded huts, no running water or electricity. Many children don’t attend school and have no other option for survival but begging and prostitution.

When you sponsor a Romanian child, you help reach out to that child through our Sunday School program. You also have the opportunity to build a relationship with you sponsored child by exchanging cards and photographs. You can also help provide food and clothing, school supplies and other gifts to benefit your child and his or her family. As a sponsor you will receive a photo and information about your sponsored child along with annual progress updates.
